Here we go. I’m skiing the American Birkebeiner this Saturday. 50 Kilometers of Wisconsin snow. Oh boy am I in for it.
I’ll be staying with some friends from the ‘ol college Nordic ski team, who continue to meet every year for the Birkie. The usual itinerary is:
- Check into our rented house the day before
- Eat lots of spaghetti
- Get up early and ski the Birkie
- Have a beer at Angler’s (a short walk from the finish line)
- Return to our rented home, nap
- Shot-ski
