I'm looking for a roommate.
My current roommate, Rob, is getting a place with his girlfriend, so there’s a vacancy in Northeast Minneapolis. Lease starts May 1st, although the date can be flexible if necessary. You can find more details about the apartment on the craigslist post (also linked above), but first let’s see some roommate testimonials, in chronological order:
Shandra, 1074 Vail Dr. (1986-2001)
I’m glad to say that Andy* rarely got into my stuff—I’m rather particular about my stuff and it always bugged me when my college roomates played my CD’s then just left them laying around out of the case with greasy fingerprints all over. Grr!
Also, he used to have nightmares in the middle of the night and kick the wall but I don’t know if he does that anymore :)
Brian, 635 Elm Dr. (Cole Hall) (2001-2002)**
Andy and I met each other the day we moved in together and lived in a space the size of a closet for 9 months (dorm room). We never really had any problems. He didn’t seem interested in creating drama where there was none.
Jon, 6 N. Charter St. (2002-2003)
Let’s see…Andy never stole my food, passed out in the shower and never while in the act of passing out in the shower did he block the drain causing the bathroom to overflow. The worst part of living with Andy is that I can count two instances when I hooked you him with a friend of mine, and yet the favor was never returned. That’s just not right.
Best part…Andy was a fantastic Halo partner, and I’d go to war with him anyday.
Skye, 210 S. Mills St. (2003-2005)
Easygoing, great conversation, and an interesting cooking style. Andy is a good friend, and an even better housemate. He is always busy working on some crazy art project or publishing websites, so if you are looking for someone to be totally outgoing and ready to hit up the weight room he is not your guy. But he is always up for a beer and a discussion on Bukowski or really good music (not crap music). If you stay away from his lentil stews I can’t imagine not getting along with him, he is a genuinely good person. Also, if you need to build an abstract ubermechanical retro flying piece of art, or fix your bike - he is the guy. I wish I had more roommates like Andy, a lot of good memories and he always paid the rent. What more can you ask for?
Natalie, 406 S. Mills St. (2005-2006)
a) Andy was so laid back… I didn’t have to worry if the dishes weren’t done IMMEDIATELY after dinner. There could be a time delay ‘til the next morning… or until he or [our other roommate] washed them for me. ha.
b) Having such an amazing, supportive, compassionate friend as a roommate was a life saver. I couldn’t have survived that last year in Madison without him as a roommate and a friend.
Amelia, 1307 Chandler St. (2006-2007)
Mr. Andrew Dayton was the best roommate I ever had. The year we lived together was a challenging year for me, personally, but I always had a stable and comfortable home to return to. Andy was respectful of my space and personal belongings within the atmosphere we maintained (one of “you ran out of milk?—use mine!”). He was around to chill and chat with and make meals together when I wanted, but also out of the house frequently enough that I felt I could spend a quite evening at home alone sometimes. While there were times the dishes would mound to dangerous levels, no germs or mold spores ever threatened to take over the apartment. And Andy was always willing to feed my cat or eat my baked goods or let me leave my sewing project sprawled over the kitchen table for a week. To sum up, the apartment where Andy and I lived together felt like a home.
