“I’ve had enough of these drivers parking their luxury cars on bike lanes and pedestrian crossings. This tank is a good tool to solve the problem of parking in the wrong place.” - Mayor of Vilnius, Lithuania
That’s one interesting way to keep bike lanes clear.
You can shift this Prius bike with only using your mind…seriously.
The team set me up with a neurotransmitter helmet connected to an iPhone 4 mounted on the stem. The neurotransmitters are embedded in the helmet. Sync your brain bucket to your phone and you can switch gears simply by thinking about it.
Shifting couldn’t be easier. Think, “shift up” and it does in a blink of an eye. It’s faster and smoother than anything else I’ve ridden. It can be tricky, because you’ve got to keep your head clear — the neurotransmitters work off your brain activity, so if your mind is bombarded with grocery lists or thoughts chasing down that guy who blew by you, shifting could be tricky
First ping-pong, now this! If only this worked for TV channels.

On the Waterfront.
Exciting things are happening! Last weekend Ariel and I moved into our place in the Columbia Street Waterfront District. It’s a strange, wonderful little neighborhood with a disputed name — the woman we’re subletting it from calls it Cobble Hill, Michael insists it’s really just part of Red Hook, and we’ve been affectionally calling it “CoWaDis”.
Another big thing happened to me before the weekend; I accepted a part-time position as a front-end designer/developer at PopTech’s DUMBO office. The more I dig into what this organization does, the more exciting I am about it; while at first glance they may appear to be just another TED, much of PopTech’s emphasis is now on actually making things happen. I’ll be helping update the website to better tell this part of the story.
And finally, with a new place to live and a new workplace comes a new commute — which is one of things I’m most excited about. It’s actually significantly easier and faster for me to get to work via bike than it is via public transportation. That’s because my commute is almost completely through the brand new Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway (which I mentioned earlier). This means I have just about zero excuse not to bike to work every day.

Le Gitane’s maiden voyage in NYC on a Sunday sunset ride. We took a little tour of Red Hook and went over to Brooklyn Bridge Park — a wonderful new waterfront greenspace that’s part of the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway. More photos below…

Woo hoo! (This is an issue I’ve been tracking for some time.)
PDX Dethroned! Let’s be honest folks, we wanted it more…
