One week left to submit your audio idea to be broadcast from the Foshay!
Northern Spark approaches quickly, and we’re still seeking audio submissions for Station Identification, our one-night project on the observation deck of the Foshay Tower in Minneapolis, MN. We’ll be broadcasting live all night from 9pm June 4th to 6am June 5th, so we’ve got plenty of air time to fill. Some ideas:
Come to the Foshay the night of and tell a story, sing, or do whatever it is you do.
Send us some music you’ve been working on. (We’ll be streaming it so you don’t have to worry about downloads!)
Send us that amazing audio recording you made with your smartphone and have no idea what to do with.
Anything really, just as long as it’s sound!
The deadline is in one week (Monday, May 30th). See the call for submissions for more info, or email your idea to “notioncollective” at gmail.

The Notion Collective to show at Northern Spark

Check it: we’ll be presenting at Minneapolis’s 2011 Nuit Blanche, ”Northern Spark” this coming June 4-5! Our piece “Station Identification” will invite visitors to the nighttime skyline view from the top of the Foshay Tower! It’s all about listening, seeing and broadcasting from the open air observation deck. We’ll be there all night, it’s gonna rock(!), and you should all come join us!

This is very exciting news for us — keep your eyes on the Notion blog for more updates. See you on top of the Foshay!

Andy-in-a-can, via the other Andy:

Katie sends the above photo with this message:

Spotted today at Cumberland Brews, which is the owner of an impressive array of defunct brand beer cans…if the date on the can read “1979” rather than ‘78, I would’ve choked on my microbrew, bro…

It took a Kentuckian to remind me I’m glad to be back in Minnesota, where every can of beer is Andy’s beer. Psychically, I mean.
Here’s what Rusy Cans Dot Com says about Andy’s Beer:

Andy’s Beer came out in several different designs and colors, none of which were particularly attractive, striking, or unique.

I beg to quibble. I think this can is extremely attractive, striking and unique, and I am — if you need reminded — a highly trained visual artist. It is unique and striking because it dares to say what all other beers only think: “I am Andy’s beer.”
Also, in terms of attractiveness, I would like to point out that Andy’s Beer appears to come in many exciting pop-art shades of green, yellow, blue and orange. Q.E.D.
