PRAXIS: Farmwork
Sunday, September 20th: 3pmJoin us this Sunday for a Praxis presentation & discussion with WBSC keyholder Andy Dayton. He’ll talk about Farmwork, a community of artists rooted in the farmland outside of Madison, WI.
Things that may be discussed: gardening, Alan Kaprow, alternative growth, Black Mountain College, localism, Frank Lloyd Wright, bonfires, intentional communities, and pickles.
Oh, hey — I never posted this video I made for the last MNKINO. The theme was ON / OFF, and the video was shot at Summerwork.
If you haven’t heard, this month (September 22) is Transparency. Also, a few updates to the MNKINO website coming soon…

Well, I’m off to art camp. I’m in Oregon, WI for a week, to participate in Summerwork for my fifth consecutive year.
The above photo is from last year, where my crowning achievement was to dig a hole in the field, and then invite other participants out to the hole to chat. The whole thing culminated in an improvised ritual involving a wheelbarrow full of apples, and the hole was filled up by the end. I wonder what’ll happen this year?
Also, stay tuned — I’m thinking about doing a Praxis at the West Bank Social Center about Summerwork.
(photo: Marina Kelly. And yes, that’s Michael and me, sitting in the aforementioned hole.)
